We are proud to be in the Yorkshire Insider Growth 100 Awards 2018! Each year Insider publishes a list of the top 100 fastest growing companies with head offices in the Yorkshire region. The Growth 100 list is compiled using average percentage gain in turnover for the past five years. Companies must have experienced positive growth in the most recent year and had turnover of more than £1m in their first year. Virtual College is honoured to have made the list and is looking forward to the awards celebration on 19 October.

Virtual College had another successful night at the LPI’s Learning Awards with both Hayley Khan and John Hinchliffe picking up awards.

Devised by the Learning & Performance Institute, and recognised as the L&D sector’s premier awards ceremony, this was the 22nd annual Learning Awards. It was live streamed around the world and attended by 400 industry guests and finalists.

Northern Tech Awards - Tech4Good Trophy

This award recognises companies that use their technology and business model to bring about positive changes in society. Virtual College was commended for delivering mass online training programme aimed at improving outcomes in the health and social care sectors.

Gold | the Best Training Partnership with the Home Office at the Training Journal Awards

Alison Humphreys, the Home Office FGM Policy Lead at the time of the submission, said: “Virtual College’s passion for the project and their understanding of the sensitivity of the subject, together with their experience of developing products for our target audience, meant that the end product was innovative and tailored to the needs of the learners.”

Gold | For excellence in the design of learning content in the public and non-profit sector for ‘Recognising and Preventing FGM’ a course developed in partnership with the Home Office

The judges said ”a huge amount of thought and planning had gone into the design of this content to make it engaging and relevant for the audience and to address the topic sensitively for the audience. The engagement and reaction of learners was particularly positive and the project was well managed to involve a wide range of stakeholders.”

Gold | E-learning development company of the year

We were honoured to win gold in this highly competitive category. We focused our application around the work we did with the NHS, PACE (Parents Against Child Sexual Exploitation), and Housing Ombudsman Service. The recognition of this work, combined with how we catalogue our methods and products, meant that we were able to proudly take home the Gold award.

The judges commented that: "Virtual College captured our imagination from the outset. Their agile methodology has delivered significant results in customer satisfaction.”

Bronze | Excellence in the production of learning content in the not for profit sector

Virtual College worked with the Home Office to develop the first e-learning course on the sensitive issue of female genital mutilation (FGM). There had previously not been a cohesive approach to identifying and preventing the practice, which affects an estimated 140 million worldwide.
