Tailored to those who are looking for an introduction to the topic of food hygiene and basic first aid skills this online training package should take around 3-6 hours to complete. The package also includes a detailed look at food allergies, what they are, the impact they can have and the 14 food allergens. Each course comes with a CPD approved certificate which you can download and print for your records.
This training pack is aimed at those who want to learn the basics of food hygiene and want to know how to act safely in the kitchen and food environment.
Level 1 may be used as an introduction to the subject for children and people with an interest in preparing food safely for a family. It is ideal for use in schools, in addition to a regular curriculum, and for students prior to taking work experience in a food environment.
This Food Allergy Awareness Training Course includes clear information and guidance to help learners identify and understand the main food allergens, and the importance of handling food containing allergens carefully in order to keep customers safe.
The first aid course teaches learners to follow the Resuscitation Council UK Guidelines for basic to advanced life support training. Learners will know what to do if they are first on the scene of an incident, how to assess the situation as a potential danger zone and understand the importance of the recovery position and how they may apply it.
Our Food Allergy Awareness course is RoSPA Assured and the certificate, awarded upon successful completion of this course, includes their logo.
Level 1 Food Safety and Hygiene Course, Food Allergy Awareness Training Course and the First Aid course are accredited by Continuous Professional Development (CPD). The certificates, awarded upon successful completion, can be used to log your hours against.
All three courses usually take between three to six hours to complete, depending on the speed of learning. Learners do not have to complete all the training in one session as progress is recorded throughout and the training can be paused and resumed in our learning management system at any time.
The courses are aimed at food handlers and anyone working in a role that involves contact with food, or the management of such people. The First Aid course is also suitable for people and businesses looking to learn new first aid skills or refresh their existing first aid knowledge.
There are no entry requirements for this course.
Each end of course test consists of 15 multiple choice questions. Learners are required to achieve a 75% pass mark, and, if necessary, may attempt the test six times at no extra cost.
If learners do not achieve the 75% pass mark, further attempts may be given by contacting our support team.
Learners will be able to download a digital certificate on completion of each course. This can be printed, and we suggest you keep it for your records.
This course is not a formal RQF food safety & hygiene qualification, the levels only indicate the type of course so that businesses can choose whom it is suitable for.

This online course consists of a series of pages in which an instructor will talk learners through the lesson material. Pages may include supporting pictures, graphs, animation or extra sounds to help with the learning where appropriate. Some lessons will include challenges/quizzes to help learners stay engaged and interested in the material. Lessons can be taken in any order and each lesson may be paused and resumed at any stage.
The course is self-paced so learners decide how fast or slow the training goes. There is no deadline for completion but some of our courses have a test at the end to check that learners have understood the material. Once learners have passed the test they are awarded a certificate, which can either be downloaded digitally or sent as a physically copy if this option was chosen when purchasing the course.
Upon completion of any of our courses, learners will be able to download a digital certificate from Virtual College and will include the accrediting bodies logo where applicable.
If you have bought the posted certificate option (available on select courses), a high quality, seal embossed, certificate will be sent out by first class post at the beginning of the following working week.
