Description
This Level 2 and 3 Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate equips learners with the knowledge and skills required to work safely and legally in catering or hospitality roles. A strong understanding of the latest food safety principles will also improve the quality of your product or service, whether you’re a self-employed caterer, a chef, a waiter, or any other role within the catering industry.
The RoSPA Assured Level 2 and 3 Food Hygiene and Safety Training package is designed to provide individuals and organisations with the very latest food safety and hygiene training.
By completing the training, learners will be able to:

What courses are included in this training package?
Within this training package are two of our most popular food hygiene courses: Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene for Catering and Level 3 Food Safety and Hygiene for Supervisors.
This course is not a formal RQF food safety & hygiene qualification; the levels only indicate the type of course so that businesses can choose whom it is suitable for.

Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene for Catering
- Understand the importance of food safety and personal responsibility
- Recognise common food hazards (biological, chemical, physical, allergenic)

Level 3 Food Safety and Hygiene for Supervisors

- Understand legal responsibilities and food safety regulations
- Monitor compliance and maintain accurate food safety records

Duration
Together, these courses take approximately 10 to 12 hours to complete, depending on the learner’s pace. We have shown a breakdown of the timings below:
- Level 3 Food Safety and Hygiene for Supervisors - 8 to 9 hours
- Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene for Catering - 2 to 3 hours
Learners do not have to complete all the training in one session as progress is recorded throughout and the training can be paused and resumed in our learning management system at any time.
Who is this training package for?
This training pack is aimed at anyone working within the food industry. The Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate for Catering satisfies a food handler’s legal obligation to undertake appropriate food safety training, and the Level 3 Food Hygiene and Safety for Supervisors course is suitable for anyone involved in the management or supervision of food handlers within a food environment.
It is expected that any establishment involved with food handling has at least one person who has received their Level 3 Certificate - particularly if they oversee other staff and are responsible for the training of those staff.

Entry requirements
There are no entry requirements for this course. However, if you work in specific sectors, you may need to take a different course. This can include the Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene for Retail or Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene for Manufacturing.
Legislation covered
This Level 2 & 3 Food Safety and Hygiene course is designed to help you comply with EU Regulation 852/2004, which requires food businesses to ensure that any employee who handles food is supervised, instructed and trained in food hygiene, appropriate to the work they carry out.

Upon completion of any of our courses, learners will be able to download a digital certificate from Virtual College which will include the accrediting bodies logo where applicable, the learner's name, the title of the course and the date of completion.

Recommended renewal: 3 years
Whilst none of our certificates have an expiry date it is strongly recommended that the training is completed every three years. This is based on industry best practice to ensure awareness and knowledge of the latest guidance and legislation.

I recently completed the Food Hygiene course and found it very informative and easy to follow.
