First aid course overview
This course is designed for anyone who may find themselves first on the scene of an incident involving a casualty. This may include a workplace environment - including shops, restaurants or in an office - whilst volunteering, or in a personal capacity such as an accident or an incident at home.
Why take this first aid course?
The course teaches learners to follow the Resuscitation Council (UK) Guidelines for basic to advanced life support training. Learners will know what to do if they are first on the scene of an incident, how to assess the situation as a potential danger zone and understand the importance of the recovery position and how they may apply it.
Upon completion of this course, learners will understand what is meant by the AVPU scale (Alert, Voice, Pain, and Unresponsive), be able to follow guidelines for the use of Automated External Defibrillators and know the key processes to follow in an emergency and what to do for each one: Danger, Response, Shout, Airway, Breathing, and Circulation.
