Description
This Slips, Trips and Falls in the Workplace course has been created with businesses in mind and will ensure organisations are able to reduce the risk of slips, trips and falls in the workplace. This in turn will reduce the risk of injury and unwanted expenses.
The chances are, you’ve slipped on something, tripped over something or fallen off something in the past and you’d rather not experience it again. Whether it’s a wet floor or an inconveniently placed cable, the hazards are everywhere.
Despite seeming minor, slips, trips and falls can have serious consequences to our health as well as costing businesses their productivity, time and money when someone gets hurt. Knowing how to identify and remove hazards that could cause a slip, trip or fall is essential, no matter what your workplace environment is like.
We have developed this introductory course to help keep you safe. It addresses what we understand by slips and trips as well as how cleaning can help to minimise the risk they pose.
Slips, trips and falls in the workplace can seriously affect the health and wellbeing of workers, as well as a company's overall productivity should key members of staff need time off as a result of these incidents.
In fact, Health and Safety Executive workplace slips, trips and falls statistics show that of 604,000 non-fatal injuries 31% of these, 187,240, were from slips, trips or falls.
What's more, if it comes to light that an employer could have prevented a fall-related injury, they could find themselves facing a costly lawsuit, bad publicity and potentially irreversible reputational damage.
It is therefore vital that both employers and employees know how to recognise potential slip, trip and fall hazards in their workplace, as well as how to make their working environment safer, which is exactly what the Virtual College Slips, Trips and Falls in the Workplace e-learning course covers.
This course was previously known as An Introduction to Slips, Trips and Falls in the Workplace.

It also focuses on the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences 2013 (also known as RIDDOR) and the Work at Height Regulations 2005.
