Bribery and corruption can expose a business to serious legal, financial and reputational risk, even when the organisation itself had no direct involvement. This course is an introduction to the Bribery Act 2010, the UK's primary anti-bribery legislation and one of the most far-reaching of its kind in the world. Covering the four offences under the Act, what "adequate procedures" means in practice, and how to handle high-risk areas like gifts, hospitality and third-party relationships, this course helps you recognise bribery and know what to do about it.

Description
The Bribery Act 2010 applies to all UK-based individuals and organisations, and to non-UK companies that carry out any part of their business in the UK, regardless of where the bribery itself takes place. It's one of the broadest anti-bribery laws anywhere, and it doesn't take direct involvement for an organisation to be liable: if an employee or third party acting on the business's behalf is involved in bribery, the organisation can be prosecuted too.
This course walks through what bribery and corruption actually look like. It outlines the four offences under the Act, including the corporate offence of failing to prevent bribery, and the "adequate procedures" defence, which is what organisations rely on to show they've taken bribery seriously.
It also covers the trickier areas businesses tend to worry about, like gifts, hospitality, facilitation payments, and the risks that come with third parties and supply chains. The course uses scenarios to help you apply what you've learned to real situations, including common misconceptions like "it's just the way business is done there."
No prior knowledge of the Bribery Act or anti-bribery compliance is assumed, so this course is accessible to everyone, whatever your role or level of seniority.
