This CPD-certified MCA and DoLS Training course provides caregivers with an introduction to assessing individuals' mental capacity. It outlines what trainees should know to adapt to the needs of people with unique mental health conditions, including relevant guidelines and policies.
When working in health or social care, some individuals may require additional help. It’s important to understand the mental capacity of the individuals in your care and tailor your support to their needs. There are many reasons someone may lack mental capacity, and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) are designed to ensure their freedom is not infringed.
With details on all relevant legal frameworks for safeguarding individuals with reduced mental capacity, our 30-minute course serves as an introduction to the DoLS and MCA. It can also be used to refresh the knowledge of anyone who has previously been trained in these regards, updating their understanding with recent examples.

The content of this course has been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines.

At the beginning of each module learners will be asked to answer a “knowledge check” question. Answering the question correctly will allow learners the opportunity to skip this section. However, if they wish to complete it anyway, they are still able to.
On completion of this course, learners will be able to print a Virtual College certificate. Learners must complete the course to obtain their certificate.
Duration
30 study minutes to complete. The length of time taken depends entirely on how quickly learners can study and absorb the material.
