Description
When working in social care its essential to know how to help assist and move people in your care and other objects such as equipment. As a daily common task, it is incredibly important to help reduce the risk of harm to staff and service users.
Discover the correct way to move and handle individuals and required equipment safely as well as understanding the relevant legislations, guidelines, and procedures to help minimise risks.
This 30-minute course can be used as an introduction or as refresher training to ensure that all learners have up to date knowledge of Assisting and Moving, People and Objects.
Learning Outcomes for this course include:
- Know how to move and handle equipment and other objects safely
- Know how to move and position an individual safely
- Discover how to use equipment which may be required
- Explain current legislation, national guidelines, policies, procedures and protocols in relation to moving and positioning individuals
- Minimise risk before moving and positioning individuals
- Recognise when to seek advice and/or assistance from others when moving and positioning an individual
Accreditation
The content of this course has been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines.
Certification
At the beginning of each module learners will be asked to answer a “knowledge check” question. Answering the question correctly will allow learners the opportunity to skip this section. However, if they wish to complete it anyway, they are still able to.
On completion of this course, learners will be able to print a Virtual College certificate. Learners must complete the course to obtain their certificate.
Duration
30 study minutes to complete. The length of time taken depends entirely on how quickly learners can study and absorb the material.

It sets out a series of minimum learning objectives and a suggested refresher frequency, to support care organisations to provide their staff with a foundation of learning and refresher opportunities.
