Description
Anyone working in education has a responsibility to ensure children are safeguarded from potential abuse or neglect. Staff need to be able to recognise any of the signs or symptoms of abuse and how to report them to the correct authority.
This Safeguarding in Education course has been updated to be compliant with new Keeping Children Safe in Education 2022 legislation and how this applies in the workplace or when working with children and young people.
It is a statutory requirement for anyone who works with children to have up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding policies, legislation and guidance so they can proactively focus on keeping them safe from harm and maintain the ability to act on any concerns about the safety and welfare of children and young people.
Why take this course?
The Department of Education states ‘everybody who comes into contact with children and their families has a role to play in safeguarding children’. It is the duty of schools and colleges to prioritise the responsibility of safeguarding children in school at the highest level.
This Safeguarding in Education course has been created with child protection in mind, giving advice and information for schools and college staff using practical, real-life examples. The course is written by safeguarding experts with over 100 years’ joint experience in the education sector.
It is a statutory requirement that all staff working with children receive appropriate child protection training. By completing this safeguarding in education course, you will be meeting these legal obligations and minimising the risk of bad publicity or lawsuits.
This safeguarding training for school staff course is not only suitable for those who are safeguarding children in school, but colleges, nurseries and any other educational settings.

Frequently Asked Questions
Different training providers produce slightly different safeguarding courses at each level, which means that there’s no standardised guidance on how often you need to receive refresher training for safeguarding. The general guidance is that training should be refreshed every 2 years, but as a practitioner, you may need to undertake more frequent or specialised training to be able to fulfil the requirements of your role.
